What is NTA UGC NET ?
NTA UGC NET stands for National Testing Agency (NTA) University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test. It is a national level examination conducted by the NTA on behalf of the UGC to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor and for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.
UGC NET Eligibility
UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) is a national level exam conducted in India for the post of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian Universities and Colleges.
Here are the eligibility criteria for UGC NET:
Age Limit: For JRF, the maximum age limit is 30 years as on the first day of the month in which the examination is to be held. However, there is no age limit for the post of Assistant Professor.
Educational Qualification in UGC NET:
Candidates should have completed their master's degree or equivalent from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks
(50% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/transgender candidates).
Nationality:
The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
Relaxation in UGC NET:
There is a relaxation of 5% in marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD/transgender categories.

UGC NET Exam Pattern and Exam Mode
The exam is conducted in two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, both of which are conducted in online mode. Paper 1 consists of 50 objective-type questions that assess the teaching and research aptitude of the candidates, while Paper 2 consists of 100 objective-type questions from the subject chosen by the candidate.
Exam Time- Period
The exam is held twice a year, in June and December, and candidates who qualify the exam are eligible for the post of Assistant Professor or for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.
